On May 25th the Ottawa Odyssey Boccia Club will be hosting a Regionals event at the Ottawa Rehabilitation Center in the gym (505 Smyth Rd).
This event is one of two in Ontario that will be used as a Provincial Qualifier for Provincials which will be held here in Ottawa in July. Boccia is similar to Bocce Ball and lawn curling, though it has been adapted for athletes with Cerebral Palsy (and other disabilities) and is a Paralympic sport.
If you want a bit more information on the sport:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boccia We are looking for about 4-5 volunteers for this event. We need volunteers for time-keeping, updating the scoreboards, some set-up and helping to ensure that all athletes are on court at the appropriate time. The volunteers would be needed from approximately 8-5 pm on Saturday. Lunch will be provided. I understand that this is a big commitment, but it will be a great learning opportunity about the sport of boccia, and will also be a lot of fun :). If you know of any HS students who need the volunteer hours for graduation (they would get about 10 hours for this event), or of any friends or family who might be interested , please feel free to pass this email on to them.
